A Ketubah is a special type of Jewish prenuptial agreement. It is considered an integral part of a traditional Jewish marriage, and outlines the rights and responsibilities of the groom, in relation to the bride. Many ketubot are decorated with symbolic and narrative motifs, a variety of styles, and are colorfully executed. The art of Ketubah illumination reached its peak at the end of the 17th century and has continued to flourish since then.
